Kenya Competency Based Curriculum
Learning That Develops the Whole Child
The Competency Based Education (CBE) curriculum, introduced by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), replaces the traditional 8-4-4 system with a framework built around skills, values, and competencies rather than rote memorisation.
At Brighton International School, we implement CBE with enthusiasm and rigour — our teachers are fully trained, our facilities support hands-on learning, and our pastoral team ensures every child thrives socially and emotionally alongside their academic growth.
The pathway runs from Playgroup (age 2–3) through Grade 9 (Junior Secondary), giving children over a decade of consistent, progressive learning before they transition to senior secondary education.
